Pest Protect 2016: Our Reflections

Pest Protect 2016: Our Reflections

On 2nd and 3rd March 2016 Pest Control experts from across Europe gathered for Pest Protect: a conference and exhibition event held in the International Congress Centre in Stuttgart, Germany. Much that was to be found at Pest Protect – the content and form of the event – was a first for DSV, the German trade association. The event was better attended than last years’ Eurocido event by 30%.
A programme of seminars proved very popular with many delegates having to sit on the floors of the seminar rooms owing to a shortage in seating, so well-attended was the event. The threat of bed bugs was a common theme delivered by many of the seminar speakers. Thematically, this topic was brought together under the heading of ‘Breakfast in Bed’.

The event was opened by Henry Mott, vice-president of CEPA and managing director of Conquer Pest Control, which is based in Nottingham. In opening the event, Henry elected to emphasise the importance of quality. The CEPA CEN standard formed a significant portion of his talk and the crucial role it plays in maintaining standards of quality in Pest Control across Europe.

Key West Pest Control recognises the vital importance of maintaining standards of quality when working in the field. Our operatives are all certified for harness training at heights and according to health and safety standards (CHAS).  We are a servicing company member of the National Pest Technicians Association (NPTA). We are also registered under the Waste Regulations Act 2011. In addition, Key West is certified to provide the necessary training to new members of our team, which continues to expand.

In applying the standards of our profession to the business premises of our expanding portfolio of clients our emphasis is on the prevention of infestation. Where our standards are applied to a domestic setting the emphasis is on removal and extermination. Our operatives are furnished with a skillset that meets these standards when they are applied. A significant part of proactively preventing infestation is in the advice that we are very pleased to give to our existing and future clients.

Events such as Pest Protect provide a vital hub round which members of our profession may share information and advice around new techniques and technologies for Pest Control.
